I have officially caught my cat in the act of being smart. She has been mysteriously finding her way out onto the balcony behind my back for a few weeks now. Today, I actually witnessed how she opens the sliding screen. She stands up on her back feet and stretches her front feet way up, grasps the screen with her claws and slowly leans to the left

Sadly not so much. It seems she's only managed to get back in when the big scary trash truck comes by. That seems to freak her out enough that she'll do just about anything to find shelter.
