Peter had given a few brief handwavey calls to let people know he was about to head out of town for the holiday. Right now, he was just packing up the few changes of clothing he'd need for trip. Again.

"It would've been criminal to leave anyone with that guy," Peter said, still smiling. "Even a worst enemy. But I'm glad you came back, so I think we're pretty square, if that's what you're worried about."

She nodded. "I'm pretty sure he lied, but still... it was hard for me to leave. If you hadn't reminded me of James... Anyway, I just wanted to thank you, so I'm glad all is well."

Peter nodded. "And was I right?" he asked. "I mean, I'm just assuming he was pretty glad you came back in one piece. It'd be nice to know that I wasn't far off." For his ego's sake.

She grinned shyly at the crazy kids comment. She hadn't considered herself a kid in many years. "It's not a holiday we celebrate back home. I just stay here quietly over the break, so no, no plans. You?"

Peter pointed at the suitcase. "Back to Boston to make my mom happy for a week or so," he said. "I'll be back next week, though. I'll be here for New Years."
