in which I make non-fandom icons that probably no one will use. lol. but anyway, this month's theme at 20inspirations was "epitome" and I thought it'd be a nice challenge to make an icon for each and every one of my favorite films. That...didn't happen as I feel like I'm about to get sick (stop playing with photoshop until 5 in the morning and go to sleep Ayn!) ( Read more... )

film: francois truffaut, film: bright star, film: the new world, film: in the mood for love, film: batman returns, film: vertigo, film: chungking express, #icons, film: pride and prejudice, film: la belle et la bete, film: l'eclisse

Holy crap! What the hell is #5? It's insane how many gorgeous icons people make of The Fall, and that is a stunning example! The eyes are cropped perfectly, and they're huge and floating yet not at all creepy. They exude so much innocence and wonder. The little tilted yellow block with the text in it? Brilliant. The smaller image under that which somehow highlights the text even more? Superb. The composition is beyond me.

The Vertigo piece is immaculate, and it totally has the vintage vibe with the circles repeating like a mod pattern! Very appropriate for the era it captures, and it's seeing a profile pic in one of those circles is unbelievably dramatic and perfect.

The crops in the Stage Beauty icon are flawless. Love that it's a combo of a close crop against a wide one! The smaller slices on the sides pack an emotional punch that really heightens the drama of the entire icon, and the whole thing is lit beautifully!

Goddamn, what is the blend in 14, seriously?! SEAMLESS BEYOND BELIEF. It has a creamy and dreamy feel to it, and the blues contrast gorgeously with the yellow of her hair!

aw, stop it XD The Fall is just uber-gorgeous and it's impossible to make it look bad. I'm so glad it works for you.

i just really got lucky with that texture for Vertigo. I think I would have been pulling my hair out if it wasn't in the provided set lol.

and is it still a blend if you mask the entire background away? that always confuses me. haha

as always, thank you for your wonderful feedback Kim<33
