It's the end of the desserts as we know it....

Quizilla is still blocked. I have sent in a complaint.

I, for one, will be glad when cold weather hits Michigan. Maybe then it will be safe to work in Desserts again.
I was nearly a line runner on line 1, but was switched to desserts at the last minute. The first instance of craziness: the very fact that we had Chocolate Silk Pie as the cold dessert. Nearly everyone who saw it had to have it, often crowing over how good it was. One guy even asked me if I made it. But no, I just serve it. And at a rate of two per second, even. Literally, I'd turn around to get more and two more would be gone when I got back. In the first half hour, I was entirely out and had to take some from line one (which wasn't open). Then, no sooner would I get back with a tray than I would need to go get another one. Seriously, these people are dessert fiends!
Add to that the fact that I still have to refill the other plate desserts (albeit not very popular ones, white cake and unidentified nut cookies) and serve ice cream. In fact, once the pie was gone for good, the ice cream really got a run for its money. So much so that not once, but twice was someone sent in to help me scoop (I've had people come to refill the plate desserts before, but never to scoop). From about 5:30 to 6:45, it was a steady stream of people. I've never had a night like that before, but I'll probably have one again.
Things got so bad that I had to pilfer ice cream from line one, four in all (a full ice cream case holds eight cartons). Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Monster, Butter Pecan and Mint Chocolate Chip were replaced by Blue Moon, Crunchy Munchy Peanut Butter, Black Cherry and Mint Chocolate Chip (the same one, it just ran out pretty quickly). Absolute craziness.
My reward for all this? Not a Gotcha card (though the folks who helped me will probably get one), but an overlooked piece of Chocolate Silk Pie ^_^ Well deserved, I think.

food, work
