From slfcllednowhere:
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick three of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

This is from the first opening of Wagamama Fairy Mirumo de Pon!, Pretty Cake Magic. The song is full of food puns, including the lyric "Ichigo no you na kibun de" which I translated at the time as "Feeling like a strawberry," although it's more like "With a strawberry-like feeling." Anyway, the image is Kaede, the main character, being held by her love interest, although during the first season he had no interest in anything other than books, really.
Mirumo de Pon! is a great series, seriously. The anime is a lot more insane than the manga, but they're both good. I should scan some of the manga and make some Murumo icons.

This is a quote from "How Marvin Eats His Breakfast," a song from In Trousers, the first of the Marvin Trilogy by William Finn (of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee fame). I absolutely love this song, although when I made the icon I'd only heard the version from the one night concert Infinite Joy (which is better than the actual album version IMO). The quote is the greek chorus' comment on high-school age Marvin's previous comment, "And I can read her like a book."
I also made an icon for another quote from this song, "He throws a fit, then a knife," but I haven't uploaded that anywhere.

I just uploaded this one the other day, so I haven't actually used it yet. This one doesn't have a big story, Hammer*Kirby is just my favorite. Seriously, I always fight so hard to keep that ability. I saw someone else with a Kirby icon and I liked the style, so I checked their profile and saw the icon community they got it from, so I checked that out, and snagged a couple of icons for myself, including this one.

And now the "pick interests for me to explain," also from slfcllednowhere:

1. dried mango
Dried mangoes are delicious! My folks went to Hawaii one summer and after they came back, my mom had a craving for dried mango, so she got some, and we all got hooked. Side story: when I replied to a "comment and I'll make an icon of one of your interests" meme, icysnowdrop used this interest to make me an icon.

2. magical play
Seriously cracky anime with character designs by the same guy who did Azumanga Daioh. Set in a world where everyone is a magical girl with some sort of animal companion/clothing item, it's only four episodes long, and released by ADV, so check it out! Also, I made an AMV using MP footage set to They Might Be Giants' Stalk of Wheat:

3. no face
Aka Kaonashi from Spirited Away. Man, I used to be obsessed with that guy back in 2003. He's still my favorite character, and the only reason I still watch the movie, though.

4. queen bumble
Heh. This one should technically be Bumbleland or what have you, since it's really meant to encompass my interest in their culture, from little we saw of it in the My Little Pony episode(s) The End of Flutter Valley. Sometimes I think that I think too hard about these things, and sometimes I know I think too hard about them. I even had a semi-epic fanfic planned about how I saw things at one point in time, but other than a few random scenes, I lost my fire for it. Especially after I transported the main plot of the last part of it into my NaNoWriMo novel.

5. sushi pack
Ah, my guiltiest of guilty pleasures. Sushi Pack is a cartoon that airs Saturday Mornings on CBS (11 am EST for me, but check your local listings) about a group of five somehow-animate bits of sushi (although they actually look nothing like any type of sushi I've ever seen) that fight crime and learn morals, all in two 11 minute episodes. It's terribly cheesy and horribly anvilicious, but I love it anyway. I mean, how can you not love a show that features an angsty octopus with an eyepatch? Also, Titanium Chef is awesome.

6. elite beat agents
pyrasaur tipped me on this game, which is one of the most fun games I've played in a long time. Basically, you tap rhythms with a DS stylus to different songs, all in order to help people solve their problems. You really have to play it before it makes sense, but once you start, it's very, very, very addicting. I still mentally tap out the rhythms to Jumping Jack Flash when I hear it on the radio.

7. boys over flowers
Classic shoujo series. I've seen the entire anime, but I'm behind in reading the manga, and I haven't checked out either live action version. I'm not as into it as I used to be, but I was very much a Doumyouji fan back in the day(like 2004-5ish), especially when he had straight hair #^_^# I miss the 100+ screenshots I had on my old laptop that died ;_; (I miss the Pretear, Supergal, and Magical Play screenshots, too)
