Last Sunday I packed up and left my new downtown
apartment for an all expenses paid business trip. Destination:
Sin City.
Engines running hot, we landed in Vegas forty minutes early....and made that up waiting for our luggage. Then it was out into the 95 degree Las Vegas night to hop a shuttle to the
Las Vegas Hilton. Classy.
The next four days were jam packed with seminars on all aspects of wedding and event videography. Contrary to my own expectations (and certain other people's....
comedypixie ....) they were far from boring.
After saturating our brains with information, we hit the strip. But what do my eyes see as I leave the Hilton?
Oh my.... As we wandered further down the street, it became more and more evident that this really is the
City of Sin.
"When in Rome," they say....
Guess I'm not as
shocked as I appear.
At last we came to Las Vegas Blvd and the infamous
Las Vegas Strip.
I met a few classy ladies along the way who were kind enough to
strike a pose with me. The locals here don't say much, but they sure are friendly.
We passed some interesting
traffic signs as we walked. We ran through traffic shortly after to see the
Pirates at the Treasure Island casino. They perform 4 shows a night. I wonder how much they get paid?
Walking along the strip is quite an experience. Everything is so much
larger than life. Even the
escalators are cool. Being in Vegas has sparked my desire to visit
Rome. The sights there must be incredible....and not quite as
tacky, I'd imagine.
On Thusday night we finally made it to the
sight I wanted most to see, it's glossy black walls rising high above me and lights at the summit projecting a
beam of light to the heavens. If only I had a better camera.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience. I learned alot, got some great inspiration, met some
really cool people....and it didn't even cost me a cent (except for the
souvenirs).
I didn't get myself into any
trouble in Sin City, but rest assured, I'm no
angel.
Our return trip was an
hour longer than it should have been, but we had lots to talk about to pass the time. I finally walked in my door at 10 am friday morning. In total, I had gotten 15 hours of rest in Vegas....needless to say, I went right to
sleep.
But it's not over yet....I get to do it
all again in two weeks, this time to rollerblade.
I will take what I failed to achieve two years ago.
That's all for now.
