Minneapolis Is The Aesthetic

So everything you're about to read was typed on my cellphone. I used the app 'Evernote' and it saves a copy on my computer as SOON as I save it [you have to go to Evernote's website to get it on your computer too] It's pretty useful. It can be used however you wanna use it. I use it to document poetry and/or lyrics, lists, etc. Usually little things/ideas. But now I know it's also quite effective as a blog when I don't have one.

ANYWAY, click below to continue.

10:21am

We depart at just about 10am.

...okay, a little after.

We should've left 2 hours ago to have time to explore, but weh...we're guys. Jess is an EXCELLENT planner, but there are 3 other guys that just DON'T work on a schedule (I'm trying, dag-nabbit!). We still have time, but just not as much to go to Guitar Center beforehand. We are pretty well prepared for this!!

I have my camera, so I will be posting pics from the show.
If I decide to make this entry a friends only one, I'll post pics that won't be shown elsewhere!

...hell, I might do so anyway.

Well so that I can conserve phone battery, I'll cut this for today. Oh!! If you guys don't know of 'Evernote', you need to know of it. If you have any phone that can download apps or whatever, search for it. When I type this note or save any note, it'll upload to my profile then (when I download it to my computer) will save the note to Evernote on my computer. That's awesome so that if my phone messes up while I'm documenting this, I'll have it saved. Just look it up - it's more than just saving text notes. You could find a lot of use from it.

Toodles!

12:31pm

We stop at our first pit stop and get our grubs on. Jesse (lead singer/guitar) has been kickin' ASS with driving. We're sort of ahead of schedule, so I'm digging that. The Phoenix Philosophy, who is headlining the show & got us booked (I will link you guys when I get home), is stoked. They really like our sound! Just like I like theirs! I've never met people that openly express their admiration of other local bands, so that makes me a little more comfortable to be a geek. :3

Mmm...chedder butterburger w/ bacon....*salivate*

OW! FUNNYBOOOONE!!!

4:15pm

15 minutes ago, I had a few paragraphs. My phone is also REALLY stupid. It decided a reboot was the best idea to end its confusion

ALL I DID WAS TYPE WORDS.

*sigh*

Anyway, I was talking about the roadtrip originally. So when I was in high school, I planned a trip w/ two other friends to go SOMEWHERE before we had to live real life on our own. I don't know if they were serious, but I know that my v2 would roll with me anyway.

The road brings out a few versions of people. It's actually quite amazing. The conversation is great. It can be intense, it can be lively, it can be sincere - WHATEVER. Even the silence is amazing to me. Looking at the world through our eyes...there's a lot going on in my generation's minds. This road can make it so that there's a lot coming out of our imaginations. Out of our mouths. Stripping away from comfort...getting (mostly) away from modern technology. It does things to people...interesting things. This is definitely something I have to experience with my loves.

Jess (singer/guitar) has been a MONSTER with the driving. I'm so appreciative of him holding it down the whole way. Nate (drums) has been in a REALLY long conversation with Nick (guitar[live]). Jesse & I assume they're gonna do it when we're gone.

Right now, I'm holding onto a headache. I have only been active to get out & eat or piss, but I feel like I've done the most work!

...just under Jesse, haha.

We're coming close to our exit. I need a belt.
And probably a quesadilla. Or something Mexican.
I haven't farted ONCE in this van.
THIS. MUST. CHANGE.

9:25am

I awake at a house I don't know, with a girl laying on my chest I've "known forever" for a couple hours. DON'T WORRY - it was mutual, and my pants stayed buttoned.

Cuz I'm a rockstar.

I did my first kegstand. I can now fully understand the ignorance in a kegger. Frats, have at ye. I didn't have much to drink, but I did have a good time. The other guys had fun. They love talking, and that's what they did.

I wanna get to talking about this girl, but the show comes first. First off, every last one of us were ASS up on stage. I can't wait to have my own rig because I can have my shit set how I want it set up. My sound was SOOOO thin, and people are too nice to say 'that was shitty'. Either that, or (just like Dan [aka Dr. Hammersex] from The Phoenix Philosophy) I'm too nit-picky and I'm overthinking it.

Whatever.

So yeah, anyway. Jesse's amazing guitar get-up had some overpowered wires, but I think it was in the power levels. Whenever he'd activate his dirty (overdrive/distortion) channel on the Orange Rockverb, there'd be a horrible buzzing. Mere hours before, that did not happen. There was DEFIITELY a grounding issue. I wonder if there was a ground lift on his deal? But also, the weird thing is when he'd touch the mic, the buzz from his guitar amp would get louder. I just cannot put my finger on as to why...

The drums were SOLID except for like two parts. The ending of one song and...well, that might be it.

Nick was spot-on from what I could hear. He jammed it..seriously.

Now this GIRL. She came to me like some sort of fan. I'm like "whoa, hold on. Nah, we rocked it" and she was more like "everyone rocked, but you PERFORMED. It felt like you WERE the lyrics that the singer wassinging". This girl seemed on the verge of tears that she was actually able to meet me. It was flattering, yes. But....creeeeeepy! Haha.
o
So anyway, sleep space is limited and we literally are forced to share the sofa we were sitting on for awhile. I was comfortable at first. I had her sitting between my legs, back laying on my crotch (no boner = no pain). Because of how I am (and conversation we started having about her parents & where things are with her life), I caressed her face til she fell asleep. She was always wondering if I was comfortable where I was, and I kept reassuring her that I was comfortable. She was in an awkward phase of drunk/not drunk, so it didn't take too long for her to pass out.

I believe she mighta needed to feel loved, and for a guy like me to be the one to treat her different was something she didn't expect...but loved. What I mean by guy like me is that she doesn't like 'niggas'; she's cool w/ blacks. But she's only ever met n-word guys, so she doesn't have a good outlook on us at parties or whatever. THEN for me to be in a band and take her comments humbly (and for no one to have ever told me how awesome I am on stage like she has o_O), she was just appalled. It was kinda funny, but I was drinking a little too.

I never like to be out of control or capable of forgetting.

So now it's the next morning, I'm sitting on the floor using someone else's charger. This is usually the part I hate about parties. I'd leave...HOURS ago if I could. But I gotta wait for Jess to come through & collect Nate, Nick and I from whoever's party this was. But whoever's it was, it didn't find me going to sleep til 4-5am this morning. I'm pretty sure I saw daylight within the next hour of laying down.

WAIT!! It was Machine 22's party. They played before us on the set. YO - LOOK THEM UP. They got me hyped to get on-stage. They were dope - real talk. Closer to Sum 41 stylings, in my opinion.

The Phoenix Philosophy showed us why this is their town. MAAAAAN, they performed well. Fuckin'...Chicago. I'm gonna KILL when I got my nigga back. Trust that!! I'm gonna have me a new rig & all later on? YEP!!!

I'll end this here...today's adventures include me behind the wheel, and I got a 5 hour energy shot that has my name on it.

5:01pm

We just let the world's largest Culver's restaurant and I must say...I feel fat. America is fat. But we let ourselves get this way. Eating such deliciously fattening foods makes me wanna go ham on my dancing weight loss.

We are just vibin' out. Sleepytime is cool. Jesse has been on a ROLL. Dude hasn't woke me up to take over, and he has just been wanting to keep it rolling. Which is good, because I'm on probation with my driving. I can drive, but if I get pulled over I chance losing my probationary driver's license. BUT I HAVE TO HAVE IT ON ME.

...I don't.

So that works for me.

As we approach our last stretch home, we are silenced. No words needed as we conclude this journey that has granted me time off of school. That which is going to KILL me when I get back, because I'll be so behind. *sigh*

But it's worth it...and we'll have to do the same thing next month for South By Southwest. Leave out EARLY Friday (if not Thursday night, honestly). Now THAT'LL be an event worth documenting!!

Signing off for sleep...
