- Just to get it out of the way: OMG EEEEEEEEE EEEEE EEEE EE EE EEEEE YAAAAY EEEE OMG EEEEEEE
- I LOVED EVERYONE. EVERYONE.
- And shipped everything. Superheroes tend to bring out my multishipping side, and yes, yes, it was definitely brought out here.
- Most unexpectedly, I found myself suddenly full of Fury/Coulson feels during Coulson's death scene. WHERE DID THESE FEELS EVEN COME FROM? WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THEM?
- Speaking of unexpected feels: OMG BRUCE. ;__; BRUCE BB, JUST LET ME LOVE YOU. I was not expecting to come out of the film with this much adoration for Bruce Banner. But he was just basically amazing. So wary and good and the right kind of snarky and smart and yes. And "I put a bullet in my mouth, and the other guy spat it out." FEEEEEEEEEEEEEELS.
- BRUCE/TONY, Y/Y/MFY?
- Also, I have read so much Steve/Tony fic which handled the Tony/Pepper break-up by having neither of them being the bad guy, but just by playing up their relationship incompatibilities, that I had kind of forgotten they could be any other way? BUT OMG, THEY WERE SO PERFECT. 12% OF A MOMENT. OH PEPPER ILU. And I ship Pepper/Tony! How had I forgotten I ship them so hard? UGH, THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL. And of course they built a tower together. And of course Pepper knows Tony's friends better than he does ("...uh, his first name is 'Agent'").
- The film also did not let me down on the Tony/Steve front. I enjoyed their not-quite-getting-along, but TBH, I had been braced for much more of that and much less WORKING PERFECTLY AND FLUIDLY TOGETHER AS A TEAM. Repairing the helicarrier together. When Tony fired a repulsor beam at Steve's shield and Steve reflected it. ;__; SO PERFECT.
- NATASHA. Natasha was amazing. SHE TRICKED THE GOD OF TRICKS, YOU GUYS. SHE TRICKED THE GOD OF TRICKS. Basically all of her fight scenes were awesome. I love that she figured out how to use the alien weapons. And I loved how exhausted she looked during the final battle. It was so clear that she's just a human being and yet she was totally holding her own and just. NATASHA HOW YOU SO FIERCE AND DETERMINED AND INTELLIGENT AND TALENTED?
- So basically I want Natasha and Clint to get their own film together. Maybe a prequel? I would watch the story of how they came to be SHIELD agents SO HARD.
- LOKIIIIII. Oh my poor baby. My poor terrible, terrifying baby. ;__; I thought they handled his character progession just right. He was much darker than he had been in Thor, but you still kept getting glimpses of how lost he is. As verbscape said in her reation post, you did get the feeling he was talking about himself every time he told Thor it was too late to go back. And when he says it's too late to close the portal, and Thor says they can fight the army together, and then Loki usues the moment to get the upper hand and say "Sentiment." dismissively, BUT AS HE SAYS IT A TEAR ROLLS DOWN HIS CHEEK. I just can't. LOKI, DO YOU EVEN SEE YOURSELF??? WHY CAN'T YOU ADMIT THAT YOU JUST WANT YOUR FAMILY TO LOVE YOU? MY FUCKING CREYS.
- (AND THEN I SHIPPED THOR/LOKI FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER.)
- Based on the A (The A!!!!!) it's looking like the Avengers Mansion fanon everyone has been riffing off Earth's Mightiest Heroes with is less likely than the Avengers Tower, if Tony is going to build an Avengers HQ. (And you know Tony wants to build an Avengers HQ. I know they are not an official team, but a- Tony loves building stuff and b- Tony totally wants them to be a team. Nothing will ever convince me he won't miss the crap out of working with them and keep finding excuses to see them all again. TONYYY.)
- I actually really like that they left it with them not being an offical on-the-books team? I think not for any reason other than that it's different from fanon, so should inspire a whole new range of stories where the team all accidentally move in with Tony because half of them have nowhere to live, and Tony never gets around to replacing any of the missing letters from 'STARK'.
- The second time I watched the film, I found Nick Fury's "Because we'll need them to." in responce to Maria Hill's "How do you know they'll come back together?" a lot more ominous. I ended up just thinking of the Captain America trading cards and what exactly Nick Fury would be prepared to do if the Avengers were needed again but required another 'push'. (Like I do not believe for a second that what Nick Fury means when he says he's stopped tracking the Avengers is that he's stopped tracking the Avengers, rather than that he's keeping his distance and perhaps keeping some other interested parties out of the way too.)
- So basically the film was everything I ever wanted. *____*
* There will quite possibly be more reaction posts sooner or later. Especially if I go see it a third time. >__>
