Films what I have watched today
1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Sent to me by elanorelle! <3 I can see why you found Ferris annoying, BB! His taking it for granted that he can do whatever the hell he likes and get away with it is kinda irksome. I was mostly okay with it though, because I took him as an embodiment of that little part of you that wishes you actually could get away with doing crazy shit, rather than as an annoyingly lucky actual guy. It was a wish fulfilment film all around, really.
After I was done I reread your accompanying card (I'd like to just state for the record that I have never received such a lavishly moustachioed envelope. I very much appreciated it. *g*), and I have been pondering your question on who would be cast as whom were FBDO a J2 AU. Agreed on Jared. Initially I did share your confusion about whether Jensen would be Cameron or Sloane (I was leaning towards Cameron, but obviously Jensen is supposed to be Jared's significant other), until I remembered that to me it was a very OT3 film (srsly, Ferris/Cameron/Sloane = <333) and then it was all suddenly very clear. Ferris = Jared, confident and kind of crazycakes; Cameron = Jensen, the neurotic one (as always, you can't cast Jensen as not the neurotic one); Sloane = Danneel, the realistic and yet still fiercely adventurous one who loves them both even if she does spend a lot of time rolling her eyes at them. I am a little in love with this casting! I kind of want to read it now. Although possibly I would settle for un-crossed-over Ferris/Cameron/Sloane. Endearing!
I was stuck on where to put Chad until I realised that he had to be Ferris's sister Jeanie, so he could spend the whole AU stomping around squinting angrily about the fact that people let Jared get away with anything just because he has a charming smile. (SO UNFAIR.)
2. Zathura: A Space Adventure
This was on Channel Five today, and wanttobeatree had instructed her British flisters to watch it because (and I'm paraphrasing her a little here) it was basically AU!Weechesters learning how to be better brothers to one another IN SPACE, with added KStew as a grumpy older sister. SHE WAS NOT WRONG. They even had perfect hair! I was a little disappointed by the relative lack of KStew (ILHER), but I forgave the film that, because the parts that did have KStew featured SURPRISE INCEST. Ahahaha, I WAS DELIGHT. I do not go into kids' films expecting talk of incredibly tight sphincters and incestuous crushes! xD I have to say, older!Walter was pretty cute. I LIKED HIM. I kind of want to rewatch the film, but this time actually be aware of the fact that when he sides with Sam Danny he's siding against himself because he looooves his little brother and he miiiisses him and he's sorry for not being nicer first time around. :( CUTE. So that was pretty charming. TREE, I COMMEND YOUR MEDIA CONSUMPTION DICTATING SKILLS.
P.S. Have any of you seen Breaking Bad? My brother wants to make me watch it, and I was wondering if any of you could offer opinions on whether I should let him make me watch it.
