I went to another of the local human rights film festival films this evening. This one was a documentary relating to the genocide in Rwanda. It was pretty interesting, but what I really want to post about is the fact I finally got around to watching the film Hotel Rwanda today, because I have been meaning to watch it for a while (I kept putting it off because I never felt quite up to it), and I thought it might be useful to give me better background knowledge for the documentary.
Oh my god, you guys. Watch Hotel Rwanda. Really. I mean it. Do it. I have never cried that much watching a film before. I was sobbing out loud by about halfway through. I can't even. It was horrible and it made me sad and angry in ways I can't put into words, but I'm so glad I watched it. There are some things you just need to see, you know?
In other news, if you're the type of person who thinks that gay people shouldn't be imprisoned and/or killed for, um, existing, pretty much, then you might want to sign
this petition against some legislation currently being debated in Uganda. The petition is being sent off soon, so if you haven't signed already, you should sign now.
