Suit up!
I'm starting A levels at college tomorrow! Also, in the past four or so days, I have watched the entirety of S2 of How I Met Your Mother. I am pretty sure that that was partly with the intent of not letting myself think about my life, instead of fictional lives, for long enough to really start freaking out. OMG I HAVE NOT DONE FULL TIME EDUCATION IN SO LONG. D:
ANYWAY, SPEAKING OF FICTIONAL, NOT-FREAK-OUT-Y THINGS! I am somewhat fond of HIMYM now. Although there is this constant niggling feeling of "BUT WHEN WILL URIEL SHOW UP?". Because I'm awesome!
Also, I have no OTP, which has left me bizarrely open with my shipping. No obsessive shipping = lots of casual shipping, apparently. Like, my acceptance of almost all canon het means I obvs love Lily/Marshall, and it also means I had a total soft spot for Ted/Robin, although I've never been put out by the fact they were defs not going to end up together. I also kinda started shipping Barney/Robin just a wee bit (I am expecting that this will get worse in later seasons?) after the S1 ep where Robin was Barney's stand-in bro and totally rocked it much harder than any of the dudes did.
I got this random craving for Barney/Ted around the end of S1, although that went away pretty quickly after I went looking for fic and found nothing that clicked with me. And then I started shipping Lily/Barney (...I KNOW /o\) after the S2 episode when Lily moved in with Barney (OMG HOW AWESOME WAS THAT EPISODE? :DDD), and that didn't go away after I went looking for fic (WHY IS THERE NOT MORE FIC?).
Then there was the episode where Ted was going to move in with Robin, and Lily and Marshall miiiiissed him, and Marshall was all "We're a tree that has grown up around another tree!" and it was all metaphorical and suddenly I was shipping Lily/Marshall/Ted. IDK how I failed to realise the adorable of that for so long. D'aww. SCHMOOS. Aaaaaand then at Lily and Marshall's wedding when Barney was tearing up, because Lily and Marshall MAKE HIM ACTUALLY BELIEVE IN LOOOVE, I kind of shipped Lily/Marshall/Barney a wee bit. I'M SORRY, BUT BARNEY REQUIRES SNUGGLES, AND MARSHMALLOW AND LILYPAD COULD PROVIDE THEM.
Finally, there was the last scene of S2, when Barney found out that Ted and Robin had broken up, and Ted was all "I just want to have some fun and casually see girls for a while" and Barney was all "Wait, you... you feel the same way? *hesitant hopeful face*" and Ted was all "Yep" and Barney was all "*quietly squeeing inside* Will you-- will you bro out with me?" and Ted was all "*indulgent smile* Yes, I will." and Barney was all "Fuck yeah, this is going to be AWESOME! :DDDD!", AND I KIND OF STARTED SHIPPING BARNEY/TED AGAIN.
See? SEE? This is why I need an OTP! Because otherwise I am like a magpie of "Ooo! Shiny! That might work! Has anyone made that work? Someone should make tha-- wait! Hey, look! This is also shiny! Look at these two and their cute interacting with each other! Someone write them. Oh! Oh! OR THOSE THREE, THEY'D ALSO BE ADORABLE. :D".
