Obviously I needed a Woolsey icon for this reaction post (OBVIOUSLY), so this one has been upgraded from hanging around in my snagged icons folder to active duty. WOOLSEY: HE HAS A FOLDER OF NOTES, AND HE IS READY TO KICK ARSE AND TAKE NAMES.

SGA 5x13 spoilers under the cut. )

Ahaha, I was thinking of making a note in my reaction that I thought they brought up the issue in a way that was... IDK, slightly clunky meta? Like, "Some fans are complaining about how the Lanteans behave towards Pegasus. Hmm. Lest make an episode where we weigh up all the pros and cons of this argument then come to a verdict!" Such a subtle way of working acknowledgment of the issues into canon. xD But I didn't really mind that because, well, it's SGA. I don't really expect incredibly elegant plotting and deft handing of the issues from them. The clunkiness kinda makes me go: *fond eyeroll* Yes, that's the SGA I know and love.

Plus, I think it was really awesome that they had to cheat to get a not-guilty verdict. The writers obviously can't condemn their own heroes as a negative force, but had they straight up won the case it would have come across as shutting down different interpretations (Some people think the heroes are bad, huh? Well, lets weigh up the pros and cons and OH, TURNS OUT THE HEROES ARE AWESOME. You can shut up now!). The fact that they had to cheat a little is cool, because I think that that does represent the 'reality' of the situation: the specific Pegasus natives Atlantis have promised to help come down on the pro-Atlantis side, obviously, but whether Atlantis is having a positive or a negative impact on Pegasus beyond that is still debatable.
