Firstly, 7x09:
- KHAFHBADFGKADF SIRKO
- I love how I post a reaction post saying I friendship Dexter-Sirko, despite it being impossibly doomed, and then the VERY NEXT EPISODE: IT'S CANON.
- I LOVE THEM I JUST WANT THEM TO KEEP INTERACTING FOREVER
- Oh Sirko, I miss you. ;__;
AND NOW: 7x11!
- I FUCKING LOVE THIS SHOW
- So for my personal brand of being both a Dexter/Hannah and a Dexter/Deb shipper, this episode was BASICALLY PERFECT.
- I love that the cool things I see in Dexter are put there intentionally, rather than the sort of accidental mishmash of good and bad and things that were good but were ruined because the writers didn't notice they were there, which TBH is what most of the other shows I watch are like.
- So a couple of episodes ago I made a post about the central theme of Dexter being Dexter's need for love and affection, and his struggles with meeting that need. And so in this episode I kind of flailed when Hannah actually used that weakness when trying to manipulate him. "It's like you have something deep down inside of you that you think is undeserving of love!"
- I love that we never saw anything that directly contradicted Hannah's story on screen. Don't get me wrong - I think Hannah did it, but the fact we have to look at things from a position of not-quite-certainty increases the impact of Dexter making the decision to turn Hannah in from the same position of not-quite-certainty.
- I really enjoyed that Dexter's decision was completely inline with how I see his character. Dexter would do anything for the people who meet his need for love and affection (including premeditated, entirely calm and intentional breaking of the code for Hannah when he killed her dad! \o/), except for allow them to pose any threat to his other sources of love and affection. The only thing that could have made Dexter turn against Hannah was Hannah threatening Debra's life.
- TBH, if Debra's mind worked more like Dexter and Hannah's do, it would have actually been a great plan on her part to set the whole thing up herself in order to get rid of Hannah. (I'm just not sure it would occur to our Debra, nor that she would be as confident as I am that Dexter would do that for her.)
- So my Dexter/Debra shipper was kind of flailing helplessly because THEY ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE THEY CAN RELY ON. THEYONLY HAVE EACH OTHER. FLAIL FLAIL FLAIL.
- (Deb, pls realise how much Dexter loves you. HE LOVES YOU BEST. HE LOVES YOU SO BEST.)
- (Dexter, please realise that YOU SHOULD TOTALLY SEX IT UP WITH DEBRA FTW.)
- But this episode also did not make my Dexter/Hannah shipper sad, because UGH SO TRAGIC AND PERFECT. And also in my Dexter/Hannah shipper's mind "You should have killed me" was romantic. >__> LIKE, I AM LEGIT REALLY SAD DEXTER DIDN'T? NOT BECAUSE I WANT HANNAH DEAD, BUT JUST BECAUSE THEIR RELATIONSHIP STARTED ON HIS TABLE AND IT WOULD BE FITTING FOR IT TO END THERE. IDK, him ruining her life any other way just seems kind of insulting.
- (Although, TBQH, if Dexter doesn't end up killing Hannah at some point, I will be surprised.)
- I really enjoyed that whole thing where LaGuerta thinks Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher, too. Y'know. TO MENTION THAT KIND OF MAJOR PLOT LINE THERE.
- I AM WAY EXCITED FOR DEXTER AND DEBRA TRING TO WEASEL THEIR WAY OUT OF THIS ONE, NGL. Dexter is always more enjoyable to watch when someone's on his tail. Especially when they're getting this close.
- COOKIES FOR LAGUERTA FOR SETTING UP THAT EXCELLENT BAIT. Dexter, you are kind of stupid for taking it, but I suppose your feelings clouded your judgement.
- ALSO WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT THE GUY WHO KNOWS YOU'RE THE BAY HARBOUR BUTCHER, BUT WHO WILL IMPLICATE YOU AS THE BUTCHER IF HE GOES MYSTERIOUSLY MISSING?
- SERIOUSLY.
- I AM WAITING TO SEE SOME SORT OF EXCEPTIONALLY CLEVER SOLUTION HERE.
