[The zombies almost seem more aggressive now. He has to be stuck with the people who want to help others, but had to get injured. Fine, fine... he's on his way.]

[Ken's backed up against a dry goods store, trying to clear a path and make a break for the door. He'd knocked a zombie to the ground, but it's reaching up to grab his leg.]
Ggk--!!
[Trying to kick it off now, while hitting it on the head with the shovel. He hates this. He hates senseless fighting, and these still look almost human.]

[Soon enough, an ax comes cutting through a zombie's head. That zombie Ken's kicking at? Shinjiro opts to stepping on its head with a firm slam from his boot. Excuse his jacket's torn appearance; he needs to get it mended later]
Can't say a shovel is a sufficient weapon against these. More upper body strength, maybe it would work...
[Ken nods, but saves his thanks for later. Now he just has to move.
Which he does, ignoring the pain in his leg. He'll rush into the store and grab as many canned goods as he can carry in an empty flour sack - getting more sacks of flour or meal would be ideal, but he doesn't think he could run with those.
As he heads back for the door, he hopes he hasn't taken too much time.]
[Zombies, while much easier to take down than Shadows, are very persistent if they don't get their heads split first. Still, Shinjiro's chopping them up and knocking them away when they draw too close. He doesn't even bother trying to keep the fight clean, punching another back before cutting it through the torso.]
[Ken stares, feeling a little sick. It was bad enough to be hitting them with the shovel, and feeling it, and hearing the sounds....He's not a stranger to combat, but it's never been anything quite like this.]
[Ken will keep as close to Shinjiro as he can without feeling like he's in the way, bag over his shoulder and shovel still in his free hand. He's limping, but he won't slow down - and will try not to attract zombie attention.]
[And Ken's doing this to feel better about himself. He doesn't want to be the kind of person who takes people's help for granted, but appreciates it properly instead.]

He nods dumbly, grateful.]
Thank you.
[A sheepish glance at the shovel.] It was - all I had near me.

[He swings the axe again when the next zombie draws too close.]

Almost. I could be quick....though....
[It feels wrong to ask a stranger to risk their life just so he can grab supplies. But he's so close...
Even if he did get his leg scratched up; it's bleeding.]

Hurry up.

Let's get out before too many arrive.

Alright... let's go. [He kicks another for good measure, axe resting on his shoulder as he turns away and walks over to Ken]

But what could it mean that this place deviates from the historical trail? Is this a cruel world? Do they have an enemy? No, he's got to focus.]
--I'll pay you back for today. I promise.

[Shinjiro's not attempting to come off rude, but he really doesn't care if he's repaid or not. He's doing this so he doesn't get nagged at later.]
