Third Case [Voice]

[He begins by speaking in a quiet voice, almost to himself.]

Ah, this is much more painful than I anticipated.

[Shinichi is silent for a moment, then speaks up a a very calm and controlled voice.]

I have been bitten by a snake.  A Western Diamondback Rattlesnake is my best guess based on the appearance of the animal.  Crotalus Atrox.

[Ran is currently back in the wagon, trying to organize the supplies recently received.]

Shinichi?! Where did you get bitten?! I'll come get you if no one else gets to you first!

...where did you put the first aid kit? We have one, don't we? [Flatstares.] Or did you not put one together yet?

Oi. Like I would forget something like that. West side of the wagon, near the ammunition.

[Ran blankly stares at the screen for a second. "West"?]

West as in--[Looks around, muttering.] Which way is West?

[Sigh. Did you forget that her sense of direction wasn't that great?]

Oh! [Nevermind. She found the ammo.] There it is! [Ran holds up the first aid kit for Shinichi to see.] I'm on my way, hang tight!

Thanks, Ran. Just head straight to the East from the wagon. I'm on the near side of the main fire.

[Ran nods.] I'm on my way. [She shuts off the video and heads to the back of the wagon.

While stepping down, Ran tries to scan over the landscape to the east (or what she thought was east, at least) of the wagon in hopes of spotting a clear path to Shinichi.] Ah! [She spotted the fire in the distance, but her fixation on it was short-lived, as her shoes didn't have quite the traction that her usual shoes back home did.]

Kyaack! [Ran felt her foot lose its hold on the edge of the wagon. Unfortunately the fall was too short to give her the opportunity to go limp so her fall would be broken. First she heard a hollow crunching sound, followed by a painful heat in her foreharm.]

Ow...owowowow...[Ran didn't allow herself any time to brush herself off. Snake bites were serious, and the pain in her arm was sure to go away...]

Shinichi! Can you hear me? [Ran slowly started to straighten out the arm she fell on, but the pain was starting to get sharper. She instead held it up to get the blood rushing from the front of her wrist to the back

[Shinichi frowns as he sees Ran approaching in the distance. There was something odd about the way she was holding her arm.]

[Ran approached Shinichi, and slowly knelt beside him, looking at him with a frown.]

For someone so observant, how did you not see the snake?

[Ignoring that question in favor of something more important.]

Ran. What happened to your arm?

[Ran opens the first aid kit with both hands to indicate that it was nothing. Wincing, she realizes she probably needs to slow the use of that right arm...] I slipped.

[Ran turned to look at Shinichi's foot.] Show me the bite?

[He gives her a suspicious look. He hadn't missed that wince. But he nods at his foot. He had already sliced the pant leg up and removed his shoe and sock.]

I need the long bandages and the pressure bandage. I'll need something to create some suction as well.

[Ran's face flushed.] Wh--suction?! [She'd seen the movies, the dramas where someone would suck out the venom with their mouths. B-but...She looked down at Shinichi's foot, suddenly overcome with a bout of shyness.]

Eh?! [Ran tensed.] N-nothing j-just...[She gulped and looked down at his ankle, pressing her lips together.] I should have brought something to clean it with before I...

Before you what? I have to get back to the wagon before I can do any kind of treatment beyond wrapping it. Of course these kits don't have what would actually be useful.
