[While you're talking, Tom, a certain midshipman-turned-pastor-turned-steward will just... walk over and leave a cup by you.

Talking about extra blankets? He half assumes you might be cold and just not saying anything.

So... have a hot cup of tea, fortified with just a few dashes of whiskey in the kettle.]

[Tom is slightly bewildered when the cup is set down by him. He looks over at Jonathan and slightly fumbles in his speech.

He wasn't expecting that.]

Thank you.

How is the little goat faring?

Quite well, sir. A healthy appetite but there is still plenty of grass around. [Soon, there wouldn't be, and the supplies would have to be gotten into for it and the oxen. Better than having to constantly use supplies, though, like one would on a ship.]

Good.

We'll have to start wrapping it at night -- the ox too. Cold will get to be too much.

Yes, sir.

I-- I am sorry, sir, that I... don't know more how to help.

It's fine Jon.

Not much different from watching over young mids. Make sure they're warm, make sure they eat and that they don't fight. [He laughs at the comparison.]

[Hollom chuckles slightly.]

The little goat does rather look like Boyle, doesn't he? Will try to eat just about anything, too, now that I think of it.

[...Give him a moment, and he'll realize he just said something half-kidding to a superior officer.]

[Annnnd there's that barking laughter of his.]

Have you named it? [He's rather fond of Boyle suddenly.]

[And Hollom looks almost sheepish at the laugh, realising what he said and half expecting a scolding.]

I... hadn't, sir. No, sir.

If it's not of inconvenience to you, I might stick with that.

[He can't stop grinning, because Boyle would have a fit.]

[Jon raises a hand to his mouth to both hide a grin and cough into to keep from laughing.]

I-- I can't say-- I'd object much, sir.

[Why can't he stop laughing? Probably because Boyle really did resemble a kid.]

Excellent! Hah! Perhaps we can add a Williamson to our merry brood next.

[Hollom chuckles quietly to himself.]

Perhaps we can, Mister Pullings.
