A memory capsule, LJ style

So, as many of you have heard me say, football season down here is nuts. Why do I say that, having zero experience? Because that's what everyone down here tells me.
While we haven't quite hit stride yet, it's coming. Today was a bunch of high school practice photos and an Auburn feature. So, before I go nuts, I figured I'd write down some thoughts, proving that I was a normal, well-adjusted person before the insanity hit full-force.

No. 1: Really, I'm loving my job. I can't believe I properly valued the importance that friendly computer systems would make. But it makes a huge difference. Having the fun tools that I'm familiar with has made designing pages fun and easy. It's allowed me to pull my ass out of the fire several times and do some really neat things. Sadly, the flip side to this coin is that I'll be moping endlessly about the inferior tools at my next job, cause odds are they won't be anywhere near this nice. Then we'll know what my mettle is all about.

No. 2: I like my co-workers quite a bit. There are some moments where some of them drive me up a wall, but for the most part we're very friendly. Or at least everyone's friendly to me. Bran is great to work for because I learn a lot from him on the design front, and the writers all make deadline every time (and write good stuff). I don't work much with news, but I like everyone over there (save the dinosaur, and even he's getting tolerable) and definetly consider them friends.

In conclusion, I feel that I made a really, really good choice taking this job. I was definetly skeptical, because it's a small paper and I thought I'd be starting somewhere bigger and somewhere that was not The South, but I ignored my instincts, looked real hard at how things would be on a daily basis, and my brain proved itself right. The only downer is a lack of consistent nightife/crappy bars, but I have friends and I'm all of 23, so time isn't exactly ticking.

Now, let's see how I feel after football season. Feel free to wager.
