Every day, Mur Lafferty (who, for the record, is the most famous person to ever comment on my journal) takes a new idea and posts it on her website for other people to take and use.
In Mur's own words:
"I get a lot of email from people who are afraid to join peer writing groups because they’re afraid someone will steal their ideas. I’ve heard authors say that they get a lot of people saying, “Hey, I’ve got this great idea for a book, how about I tell you, and you write it, and we’ll split it 50/50?”
And I’m here to say ideas are cheap - it’s the work that’s hard. And to prove it, I’m going to blog an idea a day for 1 year. It will usually be in the form of a blog post, but it may be in the form of an audio or video podcast, delivered to you if you’re subscribed to the Murverse feed.

These ideas are just that. Ideas. Free for you to use. I’m putting a Creative Commons Attribution license on these blog posts. You can change the ideas, morph them, remix them, and make money off of them. Just throw a little nod in there that you got the idea from Poughkeepsie. And link back to the blog post where the idea first came from.
(Oh, I may be using the ideas too. Just sayin’.)"
And, for the record, Day 73 of the News From Poughkeepsie was the inspiration for today's haiku on my haiku 365 project!
