Yesterday was a nightmare!!
I got in to the theater at 10am, painted all day with only one break on the TV things Im supposed to be painting (thank god Ive almost finished them now). Then at 6pm I had to stop to help paint the floor from scratch.
We had to do this impossible task of drawing out symettrical curves on the huge stage floor that slope inwards and are symmetrical on each side. This could be possible, I think, but not when you only have 5 people, only one superviser whos not even supposed to be doing this kind of thing, and only a measuring tape to try get it right.
The real people in charge left early for dinner whilst we trried to figure out the whole floor thing. We managed to get it fairly in line, but not super perfect, and if you look at it you can tell that its a bit uneven/wobbly. at least from the seats and to someone who isnt noticing it looks normal.
Anyway, we had to draw it out, paint it, splatter it and glaze it, all in one night! We were there until 4:30 in the morning! And even then it hadnt been glazed, thats just when I left =_=
I feel bad for our superviser, he was really stressed out last night tryiong to get it right, we all agree he shouldnt of been left on his own to handle it all :(
Although it looks ok, it still isnt perfect. Im so worried about what the people in charge are gonna think. Although I know theres nothing we can do, I'm so worried that they are gonna have a huge go at us/be really angry with the final job.
I also feel like its partly my fault, Im the 'sceanic artist' and people kept on asking me what I thought, but I didnt know what to say or do and just went with other people on what ever needed doing. Ive never painted a stage before and up until last week I didnt even know which side was stage left and stage right!! So I really didnt have the confidence to just order people around and take charge! But I worry that this mess is gonna be blamed on me because Im the sceanic artist! 0_o Although I did tell the guy in charge right from the start that Ive never done anything like this before, so I hope no one was thinking I was in charge/expecting me to do an amazing job =_=
