Hi!
This guy's new and he requires a little bit of explanation so I thought I'd toss up his informational post while I'm thinking about it! So, yeah!
This is Theo Langstrom!
He comes from an eight part comic series called Shrugged which was written by Michael Turner, with contributions from Frank Mastromauro and drawn by Micah Gunnell.
On the outside, Theo's just a regular high school kid trying to get through life. He's pretty much on his own because his parents are uber busy psychologists who tend to be away all the time. So, you know, like a lot of the kids already on the island. He's got friends, he skateboards, he runs track, he get bullied by bullies, he does his homework and he eats Hot Pockets. He's easygoing, he loves his friends, Thom and Kiori, and he tries way too hard to impress girls that are out of his league. Pretty boring, right?
Well, yeah. Sorry, he's boring and I'm bringing him in and he's gonna bore all of you. But, maybe this'll help. Theo hears voices. Again, that might not be that exciting because who doesn't hear a voice or two in their life? Theo's voices are a little different, though. You know the old trope of angel on one shoulder and devil on the other? Well, Theo's voices are pretty much the representation of an angel and a devil. They even have names! Ange and Dev! Clever, right?
This is Ange and Dev:
Bet you can guess which one is which! Anyway, Theo's their human host. So, Ange and Dev? Yeah, they actually exist. Theo's actually got these two in his head, guiding his actions, giving him advice on the best choice to make. They're real. They're from a world called Perspecta and this is pretty much the aim of that world: to aid in the development of human beings. Perspecta consists of two very distinct regions: Nefario (where Dev's from) and Elysia (where Ange is from). They are Theo's id and superego and he's pretty much caught right in the middle.
Theo can talk to these guys. He can hear them, he can talk to them and they can even manifest in certain situations. Those manifestations only happen during exceptional or high stress moments. For example, Dev seemed to come out when Theo confronted a bully aggressively and Ange came out when Theo about walked off a damn cliff and fell to his death. They can't pop out anytime they want but they're aware of the world and Theo is very, very aware of them.
For the most part, they're gonna stay in his head. That's their base of operations, where they do all their best work. They'll argue with each other over the choices Theo makes on a daily basis. Dev'll want him to cheat, to cut corners, take the easy way out and Ange will want him to do the right thing, stay on the straight and narrow and then it's up to Theo to pick which way to go. He doesn't always pick right. When Ange and/or Dev pop up in conversation, I'll be using italics to denote that so I don't confuse anyone or confuse myself.
Theo's head is a crowded place, man. But, he deals with it. Theo's a special kid for Perspecta because he's got a spirit like no one else (not really explained why but he does) and that enables him to go to Perspecta and save the freaking day when a villainous villain named Ember Silva tries to seize control. Basically, Theo's coming to the island as the savior of the freaking world!
Just not your world and your world and your world.
Other than those voices, Theo's pretty normal. The one thing I did wanna mention is that his brother had the same voices he had and ended up committing suicide because he couldn't deal with them. It's not something Theo dwells on and if it's mentioned, it will be warned for, of course. Theo sees a school psychologist on a weekly basis and said psychologist does know about Theo's voices (and he knew about Theo's brother's voices too) so he tries to help as best he can. Now, I don't know if Electroclash will be quite as good but you never know, right?
Anyway, this is long winded when I wanted to just be quick and dirty since I'm sure a lot of his backstory will come out during the duration of the game. Basically, Theo hears voices, he's the host for a pair of otherwordly beings, he's the savior of the world and he has a lot of biology homework.
Oh, and his PB's Hunter Parrish. So, yep.
And yeah, that's about it!
