OK, so
Betty Crocker, who is not human, gave Dave the link that made Gamzee go crazy which made him is create all nightmares such as the puppet Lil Cal, which as a dream was given to John who gave it to baby Bro who used it on Dave which gave him the nightmares. Lil Cal later (or previously, depending on the timestream) was the ectobiological father of Doc Scratch, who is slightly a god. Other nightmares Gamzee made include the scarred harlequin doll that haunted John's subconscious, which manifested in scribbled harlequin drawings which Dad thought were interests which resulted in him buying the big harlequin that was later prototyped, forcing all Dersites to wear stupid harlequin outfits, which was a catalyst in Jack Noir's revolt, ascension, and univeral murder spree.
Uhhhhhh recursive as fuck HUSSIE HOW DOES YOUR BRAIN EVEN WORK?
David Eggers described David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest as being something like an alien spaceship: we recognise, vaguely, the intention and purpose of the thing from its general shape, but can comprehend nothing of its internal workings, can find no seams or explanatory instruction.
Homestuck is like that alien spaceship, only covered in stickers that remind us of our childhood.
This stuff is why I can’t get invested in shipping. You guys, MS Paint Adventures and yes, Homestuck in particular, is unlike any other thing that has ever come before. EVER. It bears a certain structural semblance to Salman Rushdie’s novels, a thematic scaffolding seen in Brecht’s plays, a baroque world building reminiscent of Tolkien. (I’m not saying Hussie knows/cares about these dudes and their work, they’re just what I’m reminded of.) It owes a whole bunch of debts to a whole bunch of video games. A good chunk of the humour and curious connectivity is based obscure popular culture minutiae, which makes it seem familiar while remaining utterly, hypnotically exotic and original.
Why, when all this is going on, are so many people so invested in who is making out with who? Aren't there more interesting things all that talent could be doing than porn? Not that I don't love porn, but there are things that aren't porn that are awesome, I mean really, are we all thirteen?

EVERYONE WHO HAS NOT SHOULD CHECK OUT HOMESTUCK. It starts out slow but the pay off as you get through to the good bits is excellent. Begin at the beginning and skip nothing.
