ed wood: I got into Ed Wood in my typically back asswards fashion, because of X-Files. And then I found Glen and Glenda and I was sold. Tim Burton's biopic starring Johnny Depp is my favourite Burton movie, hands down.
goth detectives: It started here and then they did a thing at Albert Hall of which there is no good footage, and then they mentioned it again here, but for me it's a reference to the glorious in-jokey comedy incest you only seem to get in Britain.
gun-toting poets: Hemmingway, Hunter, Che Guevara: gun-toting poets.
