Down w/ Love
I just watched "Chasing Amy" for the first time ever, and I'm somewhat disappointed. I've never wanted to reach through the screen more and smack someone then all the times Ben Afleck's character fucked up. I mean, come one, everyone having sex w/ one another? Was he high? The thing that dissapointed me most was the end of the story - Ben Afleck and Jason Lee don't reconcile their friendship, Ben and what's-her-head-lesbian-sex-a-holic don't even have a moment, and if they did it was much more of a brief incling of what should have happend, and the worst part of it all was that it was real. Not the story-line, the reaction at the end of the movie. The friends wouldn't get back together, the relationship would not be rekindled, and Ben's character will go throughout his life feeling shitty about the entire thing, as he should.
Again, another prime example of something that I could see happening to me - no the falling in love w/ a lesbian or a lesbian giving up her lesbian-ness for me, but the COMPLETE FUCKING OF TWO GOOD RELATIONSHIPS, that's what I could see me doing.
