I'm reading The Grapes of Wrath for the first time. So far, it's an excellent book and very well written. Interesting thing happened today. I got out of court and had the book with me, and while I was waiting for Christine's sister Alex to come pick me up, a man came by me and asked me for a cigarette, which I gave him, and then he asked for one for his "partner," as he called him, to which I gave him one as well. The man apologized, and told me they were homeless, to which I told him it was no problem at all. They started to walk off, and the man who asked turned before he got too far and said, "What are you reading?" I showed him the cover and a warm smile came over his face. He took a few steps, then turned again and said, "It's a good time of year to be reading that, too."
