today is, apparently, (according to some environmental factor or other) the most depressing day of 2007.
but this morning, in english, we read blake:

little lamb,
here i am...
let me pull
your soft wool
let me kiss
your soft face;
merrily, merrily, to welcome in the year.

- and it gave me a silly loopy smile. and, though samey in some respects, still perhaps primitive... i'm a convert, and i admit it openly.

i am applying to do an english AEA thing (advanced extension award). it's an exam which basically moves a bit higher on the a level scale and tests 'top candidates'. i don't know if i'm what they'd call a top candidate, so it could go either way.. but I think it could potentially be perfect, because the aim of it is pretty much a lengthy and formal version of what i do here; taking a text, quoting, paraphrasing, making pretentious links with other sources.

aside from those fairly unspectacular college-related happenings, life is, as always, a succession of non-events. but the non-events are at least a part of various projects, such as lorca, which is going better than i had hoped. i hope, at some time soon, to visit london; it's a case of getting my act together with regards to finances. not having a job isn't difficult... as such... it just requires a degree of organisation. i'm going to set up a weekly date for listing old clothes/cds etc, on ebay - as a kind of substitute income, to fund my book habit and also the new and improved version of wine wednesdays (...wine thursdays).

so i think that's an 'update'.

a nice, conventional, uppish kind-of date.

i hope everyone feels sufficiently 'updated' by it.
