Weekend of birthday-ness

Jul 12, 2010 18:52

When one of our birthdays land on a Friday or weekend, we like to spread it out.  These past three days have been spent with family.  At the end of this month, my friends and I are going to see The Windy City Rollers -- Chicago's roller derby team.  I can't wait!!  So, since my b-day was on Sunday...

Friday
I had to work.  Boo!  Hiss!  But it's a short workday (we close at 1), so I went home and did nothing.  Ahhhhh...

Actually, I take that back...I worked on a pair of socks.

I'm a lot farther than that now, but I'm too lazy to take another picture.

My mom had went shopping and brought home three orders of Pizza Hut breadsticks.  Now, these are most certainly the breadsticks of the gods.  We had them for supper (and breakfast on Sat. and Sun.) and my dad got stuck with nasty leftover meatloaf.  HAHA!

Saturday
My mom and I went to Meijers, which used to be like a beefed up Walmart and awesome, but is now full of sucky suckness.  The only thing it has over Walmart now is that it doesn't smell like old popcorn and feet.

Then we saw Despicable Me.  It was so funny...I loved it!  The minions were my favorite.

LOOK AT THEM!!! :D :D :D

Sunday
I was woken up way too early by one of our cats running on my door.  I intended to do absolutely nothing at all and just stay in my PJs all day, but we ended up going to IHOP.  (We used to go there every year on my birthday, but stopped two years ago when we decided last minute to drive four hours to get a puppy and last year I had just gotten out of the hospital and didn't even feel like getting out of bed, much less getting pancakes.)  I got the Bacon and Egg Cheeseburger, which was literally a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on it.  I can still feel my arteries clogging.  But it was delicious.

We stopped by Michaels and I bought some yellow and blue yarn so I can make myself a minion.  I'm determined to figure it out!

I took a nap, aka "accidentally fell asleep" and later went into a cupcake-induced diabetic coma.

Oh, and opened presents.  I got a keyboard with back lighting, so I can finally type in the dark, a dvd of 15 horror movie classics, an 8GB card for my camera, Ferngully on dvd (my grandma likes to root through the $5 movie bins at Sears), and a three-dvd set of Brazilian horror movies starring Coffin Joe... whoever that is.  The last one was from my uncle, who gives some of the strangest gifts.

And speaking of my uncle, it's been a week and he's still in rehab.  It's a world record for him!!!
