So I was dicking around on aim this morning and I saw this video on the top of my buddy list with all these hot celebrities talking. Naturally intrigued, I click on the window and in takes me to one.org, and even more intrigued, I figured I would do some further research. Turns out this thing is like a "global campaign to get rid of world poverty and aids" and all that bullshit. K, that sounds good, thats all well and good. Right, so they want us to help them out and do this. First of all, I see about a 2.8% chance of this campaign doing anything worthwhile. Second of all, I dont think anyone has sat back and thought about this. So let me do the thinking that no one wants to do.

If global poverty and aids were, hypothetically, completely removed, the consequences would not be as we would like to think it. It would not just be a happy world where everyone is like "lalalala im so happy I dont have any worries, I'm disease free, everyone is in love, let's make love" - no, not at all. That thought is bullshit. We have six billion people on this planet, and are approaching seven. Global warming is on the rise, and probably will do somemthing drastic to us within the next century. With overcrowding a rampant issue in many parts of the world, disease and hunger and pain and suffering remain the only check on human population.

Don't give me any bullshit saying that I'm negative or whatever, this is true. Imagine if everyone in the world was saved, disease free, no longer poor. First, there would be inflation up the wazoo on a global scale. Byebye world economy.

When people live so tightly packed, disease is not just gonna dissapear. In fact, it's going to get worse. New, more deadly diseases are gonna develop and spread faster. New shit is going to happen to keep the world population in balance. And the more you try to fight that, the harder its going to hit. It's been that way for ever, and it sure as hell isn't changing just cause Brad Pitt wants it to.
