I looked through the eyes of a much younger girl then,
Waiting to see what the world had to say,
On the tragedy that struck our country that morning,
The sacrifices of lives for our unity that day.
Six years later, I wonder what those people would think,
About the bickering, the endless finger pointing and blame,
I honestly think they'd feel their loss was forgotten,
And every single one of them would be ashamed.
So many times we said, "We'll never forget,"
It seems to me that it's all ready been lost,
Our Freedom of Speech has become a testimony of our failure,
And I wonder, at what cost?
The lives of our soldiers who volunteer for our sakes,
The lives of our children who are brutally scarred,
By the lies and the conspiracies that our people have weaved,
We were so close and now we're so far.
No appreciation for our soldiers across the country,
Fighting for our lives so that we can succeed,
Even those people who claim we're the terrorists,
They've given those people the right to be.
So I ask for forgiveness from the people who died,
I ask forgiveness of the soldiers who fight for my life and my son's,
You may think that you're losing the battle in your own country,
But I think that you've all ready won.
And whether we succeed in the future,
Or whether or not any of us have met,
To all those people that have died or are fighting,
I'll tell you that this American, "Will Never Forget."
