What a great weekend.
So this past weekend, I attended Otakon for the first time.
It was so much more awesometastic then I could have imagined.
First off, there was the cosplay. Wow. Some of them were simply amazing. I found myself squealing with joy everytime I saw someone cosplaying a character in a series I recognized. However, there were definately far too many Vashes, Kingdom Hearts people, and Clouds. But I was simply overjoyed when I saw this chick cosplay Deedlit. (What can I say? I'm a dork.)
On to the events in the convention. First of all, the anime they showed made me very happy. And nostalgic. They showed everything from current gen anime to old school anime such as Gatchaman and Voltron. They also showed live action stuff like Ultraman, which was so cheesy it was hilariously good.
But what made me really happy was the Lodoss War Marathon they showed. My god. Amazing.
Then there was the dealers room. Awesome, so much awesome. I ended up buying a replica of Trunks sword and a Trigun bag. I also ended up splitting the cost of buying handcuffs and leg cuffs with Liz and Morgan. Hahahaha ;-)
ANYWAYS.
There was lots of other cool stuff, but I didnt spend enough time in the dealer's room to get roped in to buy anything else.
And the rave. If I had not been so tired, I would have had more fun and danced more, but it was still amazing. The break dancing there was simply astounding, people spinning on there heads, and one guy that made it seem like he had no bones in his entire body.
The game room was alright. I probably spent the least amount of time in there surprisingly. They had lots of games and what not, but it was far too crowded for me. I ended up playing only one game of SC3.
And finally, the people. I had so much fun with the group I walked around with. Morgan, Tom, Liz, Eric, Andrew Woods, Dustin, Brandon. Otakon wouldnt have been the same without them.
Overall, my Otakon experience was more awesome, more amazing then I ever expected.
And I'm already eagerly awaiting next year's convention.
On a side note, I'm definately cosplaying next year.
