owwwwwwwww . . . .

i think this house has it in for me. seriously! so, it's been getting colder here at night (30s and 40s), so i thought it would be time to turn on the heater. well, it's the type of heat that comes through baseboards and goes through a boiler system, so i have no idea how it works. both neal & i tried calling the makers of the system to get advice on how to turn it on, and they were pretty much useless. after turning knobs and flipping switches, last night we thought we got it working.
well . . . . that is until we were closing up shop for the night with the heater and i walked past to go upstairs. the heater spontaneously exploded hot water all over the right side of my face and legs, which more than scared the s*&t out of me! thank god the heater had only been going for a few minutes because the water was only hot, not scalding, so i only had some superficial burning on my legs. it felt like a really bad sunburn but luckily there are no blisters or anything. i was absolutely freaked out for the rest of the night. i think that we just forgot to turn a valve or something to release pressure and so it was building up and just exploded.
we're going to call a heating guy tomorrow to come and turn it on for us. i hate all the old things in this house! grrrrrrr . . . . .
