Been trying to work out this for a few days, distracted by more interesting projects(read: proliferate decks, of which I'm on build number eight or nine by itself, currently almost mono red). This deck is going to be super weak if people don't end up playing artifacts, but if the brown colored cards start to heat up, this is pretty close to awesome. Liquimetal Coating is the cornerstone of this deck, enabling both sides of the two pronged attack. It isn't a very exciting deck, but it can bring the beats. Perhaps best of all, it's hilariously cheap compared to every other list I've posted, so it wouldn't hurt to just buy the damn thing and audible to it in times of need.
In general, I'm starting to believe that the must haves for States are pretty simple. Have a one mana answer to creatures, and be prepared for artifact synergy strategies with some adaptation like Vandals or the like. Control decks are going to be rare in this Koth filled world. A control deck like proliferate just isn't equipped to handle all the angles from with decks attack it. No answer to Fauna Shaman? GG. How bout Cobra? Oh ok, MY Jace comes down first. Glint Hawk + Memnite + Trusty Machete? Bad news. How exactly would you feel if, with you on the draw, your opponent lays some silly 1/1 infect creature on the board, and your only two drop is a Chalice? Let me remind you now, that this opponent, who is ALL smiles, is either an eleven year old boy with a sleeveless deck, or a late teens, shaggy haired, unshaven, overly thin guy with a metal shirt who said "I'm just here for fun today." as you sat down with him.
Yeah, I think I'm running eight Bolts this time. No Shaman, no cobra, no shitty Infect deck, no Glint Hawk silliness(Bolt your Memnite. Have a good one).
Decklists will slow down to a mere trickle, as we've explored most 'new' options, or at least touched on them. The sets release this weekend will mean actual sleeved decks, so results will likely improve in quality, as our back-of-the-card proxy decks are getting old and shuffling is becoming a chore.
