Kids and I hung about 10 posters around the block this afternoon and handed out flyers with the basic information on it when we ran into assorted neighbors.
As I was getting the kids ready for bed, I tried calling Ellis from the upper story back porch. In response, an orange cat and a polecat appeared. LOL! The skunk was digging in our trash, the bugger. Elora, who happens to be into skunks at the moment went into a squeeing panic, "A SKUNK! A SKUNK! A SKUNK!" and ran around on the porch holding her plush one. The skunk dove for the shrubbery across the alley. There was a guy walking his dog, the dog had seen the skunk as well. I spoke with the guy about our missing cat and he said he'd keep an eye out for him.
Not quite 15 minutes later, we heard someone calling from behind our house. It was the guy I just spoke with. He saw Ellis under our other neighbor's back porch.
Naturally, Ellis saw the dog and dove for the bushes. The kids and I went out with the cat treat container, hoping that by shaking it, we could coax him out, but no go. The neighbor called his wife to get a flashlight, and they and their daughter joined us in our search. The hedges cover quite a bit of area between three houses, and though I wore a headlamp, we couldn't see where he was. Note that it was twilight and a white cat should have been relatively easy to spot.
Well, at least I know he's still in the neighborhood and well enough to walk.
