Sigur Ros

Last night, Kelly and I went to see Sigur Ros play at the Chicago Theatre.  As Kelly reminded me, seeing a show at the Chicago Theatre was something I said she and I had to do, and finally we had an opportunity.  I really have to thank her, because the experience was simply breathtaking and extraordinary.  I was not, before last night, anywhere near the fan of Sigur Ros that Kelly is, and I still cannot say that I am as big a fan as she is, but I am certainly much further along than I was 24 hours ago.  Describing music, or a concert, is, to my mind, a useless exercise---you simply have to experience it for yourself and draw your own conclusions.  All I can say---and these are very strong words coming from me---is that this is the best concert I've attended since I saw Tom Waits, and probably 2nd only to Tom Waits in intensity and mind- and life-altering dimensions.  I was just really, really impressed.  My god, what music can do for your mind and soul when it is done well and in the right circumstances!
