I certainly do not agree with everything I read on LRC (as my lj friend arisbe calls it), but they have an interesting perspective (Lew Rockwell was a student of Murray Rothbard), and represent what was once a large constituency in this country, i.e., the anti-militarist and anti-imperialist Right. In the era of the neo-cons and W.'s imperialism, that perspective is making something of a comeback.
If I ever catch, that ventriloquist...

Sometimes our musical overlap is downright scary - as here, with one of my proverbial "Desert Island Discs", as celebrated in August 2005 on my late blog:
Television: Marquee Moon (1977). Like The Velvet Underground a decade before them, Tom Verlaine, Billy Ficca & Co. made downtown-Manhattan angst seem redemptive and "beatific, even", as Snagglepuss would have said had he hung at CBGBs when guys like them they had it made. A Desert Island Disc better with each play ("The Cadillac, it pulled out of the graveyard"..."If I ever catch that ventriloquist/I'll squeeze his head right into my fist"; "Broadway - looks so medieval").

If I could copy-and-paste my recent listening list from Last.fm, I would. For whatever reason, the programming will not allow that. Anyway, if I could, we would see just how much overlap there really is! I think we would both be amazed.
Television are/were an amazing band. I saw them when they reformed in the late '90s, and was stunned. I only wish I could have seen them 20 years earlier...

Happy New Year, Mike.
