from today's Guardian:

Tories 'obstructing Ulster peace process'

I am just shocked and appalled... Sarcasm aside, this is really nothing new. This afternoon, I used my Barnes & Noble gift card to buy Tim Pat Coogan's book on the Easter Rising, the 90th anniversary of which is in '06, and I realize how little has changed. The Unionists and Tories of yore are no different than the Unionists and Tories of today: they are obstructionists, first, last, and always. The recent revelation of a Brit spy within the higher ranks of Sinn Fein---one of the three men arrested by security forces as part of an "IRA spy ring" within Stormont in 1992, the revelation of which brought down the power-sharing government in Ulster---is an indication that, despite IRA decommissioning, and the other steps that have been taken toward peace, these bastards simply will not let up. I hope and pray for peace in Northern Ireland, for a time when it won't matter if one is Catholic, Methodist, Episcopalian, Presbyterian, or of no religion or faith whatever, just Irish. And, Irish no matter the country of one's origins. But, I will never support a peace that comes at the price of justice and equality.
