- I am loving Year 13 so far; as strange as it is being in my last year of school, and not coming across anyone within the school that's older (except the teachers), I'm really having a great time. We're still studying Liberalism and Conservatism, getting further and further into the roots and contradictions and loopholes, and it's fascinating; I think I've leapt over a language hurdle with The Wife of Bath, it's easier to understand and I think I love her already (how can you not love a woman whose defence against having sex is basically, "Well, Jesus had a cock!"), German is...well, a little infuriating, but I don't loathe it. We're treated like grown-ups, we can watch assemblies from the balcony. It's great; I love it.

But God, so much work. This is partly down to my poor organisational skills, of course; I have a bad habit of ruthless procrastination and leaving things too late, plus, my personal statement was taking priority over the rest, as it actually affects the years to follow this one. Still, it's all piling up regardless; I'm busy almost every hour of the school day. I draw a line at doing homework after ten at night, mainly because I'm getting too tired, and if I call the Wife "bold" one more time, the word will lose all meaning. The personal statement is still naff, but better than before, and by next Tuesday it'll be sent off with my UCAS form and I can stop worrying about it, just for a bit.

- I got round to watching Gordon Brown's speech at the Labour Party Conference, and as always, I'm conflicted. We had a local MP visit school a couple of months back, and he was asked what he thought of Gordon Brown as a person (he was a member of the Lib Dems), and he said that he just felt sorry for him now, calling him "a Shakespearean tragedy". And really, you can't help but agree; he's not utterly incompetent, he's just very unlucky, and his "iron fist" attitude seems to waver when he's faced with so much misfortune. That's not good, obviously. Watching this speech, it's clear how his manner has changed since his 2007 go; he seems more subdued, more measured. He's been beaten around, and it's constantly debateable as to whether it's the public, the politicians, or the media, or just the public feeding from the other two and reacting their own way. Nevertheless, he sounded strong, and gave a coherent speech that was blessedly lax of needless insults towards the other parties, something I'm sure Cameron's speech will be filled with. Urgh. Listening to the speech, Brown's language seemed to indicate a possibly more socialist agenda than before; it's obvious that the Labour Party is no longer the socialists safety, the Third Way having taken care of that. But yet, the language is coming through; "fair", State intervention...there were more. My brain's gone fudgy. Either semi-Socialism, or just the general statements we should be used to. Probably the latter, the way things go.

- How brilliant was Eve Myles in Merlin? I didn't take the whole thing seriously - I suppose you're not meant to, are you? But she was wonderful; beautiful and creepy and gliding and when she's a witch, she's a witch. Also; English accent! I was disappointed she didn't speak more, and show it off. It's a shame she won't appear again. Oh, and, I ship Arthur/Merlin like crazy. Fandom has polluted my brain; when Arthur said "How do you feel about walking on your knees?" I giggled for about five minutes. I have the maturity of a ten year old, apparently. Anyway, Will Mellor as a Knight next week, which looks hilarious; I get the feeling he'll be INTENSE. OH SO INTENSE.

- 18 days until Mr Barrowman and Mr Davies! Wa-hey!

- Argh. I didn't stretch off properly after Tae Kwon Do; I feel shaky and a lot more tired than I do usually. Also, my brain feels like a piece of dough. Blersgh.

- Have been listening to this for about three days on loop; modern jazz and an inspirational speech; what else do you need?

- Need to go. Sleep. I'm not helping dough-brain by staying up late.
