Come and open up your folding chair next to me.

Hello! I'm theohsocurlyone, and welcome to my livejournal home.

I'm aware that my journal lacks visual gloss and I tend to go through droughts of posting, but just in case you wanted to know me, have a look here!

About the journal

- I created a livejournal for the fandoms (Torchwood and Doctor Who), and stayed for the people. Hence why you may find the odd piece of fanfiction about the place, as well as capitalised, mad reactions to various episodes.

- Entries are very sporadic.

- I ramble, capslock, and rant way too often. My coherency also directly correlates to how calm I am.

- Feel free to friend me (loath as I am to use that as a verb), but I may not friend you back straight away until I get to know you. I have standard internet-paranoia, really.

About me

- I'm a first-year university student who participates in all the usual practises; noodle-eating, protests, the odd bit of partying, chronic procrastination, and studying, funnily enough.

- I'm bisexual, if I have to label myself. I don't like to, though. I'm a bit of a Harkness in that regard. Sort of.

- I lack self-belief; teachers and friends have been telling me for years, and I'm trying to think better of myself. It's not an excuse for anything; it's just who I am, and why I might come across as self-deprecating and unsure.

- I despise most chick flicks, ignore most modern music (I'm frequently stuck in vintage jazzville; Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra. It's a nice place to be), loathe all forms of airbrushing, and have never bought a woman's magazine in my life.

- I rarely delve into American TV; I tend to stick to my safe and sound comedies; Spaced, Green Wing, Black Books, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Mock the Week...you get the picture. I'm currently fairly obsessed with The Thick Of It and Top Gear. If Chris Addison and Richard Hammond ever meet, the world will be unable to cope with the combined adorable brilliance and will explode. True story!

- Jon Stewart, however, is my hero. There are barely words to describe it. It's a vague, barely-possible ambition of mine to meet him and just say "thank you", for everything.

- I'm an aspiring screenwriter, though I also dabble in poetry and prose. I'd do anything to try (and hopefully become good at) performance and slam poetry, and have written several pieces that are performable, but haven't had the chance, or nerve, to try just yet. Watch this space.

Chris Addison, Freema Agyeman, Simon Amstell, Bill Bailey, Denys Baptiste, John Barrowman, Charlie Brooker, Derren Brown, Peter Capaldi, Jeremy Clarkson, Stephen Colbert, Russell T Davies, Carol Ann Duffy, Kevin Eldon, Nick Frost, Stephen Fry, Ricky Gervais, Karen Gillan, Richard Hammond, Johann Hari, Jimi Hendrix, Billie Holiday, Russell Howard, Jessica Hynes, Armando Iannucci, Eddie Izzard, Phill Jupitus, Gareth Malone, Ian Martin, James May, Michael McIntyre, Ian McKellen, Stephen Merchant, David Mitchell, Steven Moffat, Caitlin Moran, Dylan Moran, James Moran, Eve Myles, Ben Okri, John Oliver, Simon Pegg, Karl Pilkington, Tom Price, Peter Serafinowicz, Frank Sinatra, Matt Smith, Regina Spektor, Jon Stewart, David Tennant, Robert Webb, Florence Welch, Paul Weller, Oscar Wilde, Amy Winehouse, Edgar Wright and Andy Zaltzman, are a selection of the (famous) people who rock my world, in alphabetical order.

The ones in bold are the ones that I've seen and/or met. It's not an active goal, exactly, to increase the bold count, but it's nice to look back at the experiences I'll never forget. Marching with McKellen. Hugging James Moran. Stephen Fry calling me an angel. Getting a shout-out from Stephen Colbert. The latter is going to cheer me up whenever I'm blue, for years to come.

Anyway, welcome, one and all!

There is one question that still remains to be asked.

Cake or Death?

welcome post
