Nobody on my friends' list seems to be using Livejournal as much as we used to. Me included! Ah well. A few interesting bits:
I got a new phone! The Nexus One sure beats my old Windows Mobile brick. Call quality is excellent, for example, the camera is great, the phone responds wonderfully and now it's got multitouch. Parts of it are kind of frustrating though -- once or twice a day, the touchscreen just completely freaks out and stops responding, or locates touch events several centimeters away from where my finger actually is. Apps also seem to prefer 3G and only use my WiFi when 3G is unavailable. If 3G is available but unresponsive, the apps are useless. In other words, it's not as polished as the iPhone. The app store bears this out -- the upper tier of iPhone games is commercial quality, while the upper-tier Android Market games are outdone by a lot of mediocre Flash games.
Ultimately the phone does the phone things very very well -- better than any of its competitors. On the extras, though, it still fumbles a bit.
In other news, UPS finally made its way through the blizzard, and dropped of Bioshock 2. This is not normally news, but the
Bioshock 2 collector's edition is freaking huge. I suppose that's what you get for buying a boxed set that comes with a soundtrack on a record -- the vinyl kind, not a CD.
And whoever printed and bound the artbook is, I think, the same group that does the WotC-era D&D manuals. Same exact format and binding.
Also -- I don't know if any of you have noticed, but it snowed.
