If you have Java 6, you may not need to upgrade to Java 7. In fact, my company's product includes an applet which is not yet Java 7 compatible, so we require our customer's users to have Java 6 on their desktops. We're working on a Java 7 compatible version.

I just found out that Oracle also released a patched version of Java 6 -- that may be the best solution. It's Version 6 Update 35.

Where do you get that? I don't see it mentioned on the http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp page.

OK, I followed your link, but don't see any way to download the update for a Mac. My Mac is now running 1.6.0_33-b03-424 , and Apple Software Update doesn't give me a new version.
