I'm only doing this so I can wear my Jayne hat

I know what my decision is ... and it's not to decide. - "On the Steps of the Palace". Into the Woods.

I do not deal well with people that cannot make decisions. We're having a mad spring snow storm, several inches turning to slush then rain. Clearly had the couple inches by 5am, so I was displeased that my work didn't provide closing status until nearly 6:30a this morning. There are people that come in by 6am, so dragging their feet was unacceptable - then, they designated us Code Blue which translates "We're open on regular schedule and you're required to work, but if you want to telecommute or take leave, you're supervisor will approve it." In Theo speak this means 'we can't make a decision, but we won't stand in the way of you making yours.'

I was all for playing hooky, but Roland was a mass of responsibility, so I pulled on my jacket and said FINE! But I'm only doing this so I can wear my Jayne hat! and stomped off to work wearing a ridiculous green and gold hat with a huge pom-pom. What Not to Wear would rip this from my body, but I adore it. Snow day means a relatively quiet day was had by all and much backlog was cleared, though no progress made on the truly urgent matters. I'm in the pre-exam mentality, where you have huge and complicated work to plow through but first you have to clean your desk. Nothing will be accomplished until your desk is clear, a clean notepad and a fresh pencil to hand.

Staring at the snow out the window and wishing for spring was quite a distraction.

Speaking of spring, I received a lovely book from the paperbackswap.com today, a brand new hardcover from Guy Kay Kaveral. Tucked in it was a note "As a spring 'holiday' gift, I went searching for 6 books at Goodwill (3/$1) to give to wishing members. Once you click that you're received the book, I will return your credit. Have a Happy [fill in your favorite spring holiday] - L.B."

What a lovely and random act of kindness. I asked her, instead of returning my credit, to donate it to the school books program paperbackswap.com runs.

Regardless of the weather, I feel a little bit warmer inside.
