You know, I was thinking the other day. I've always believed that suicide is the worst thing to do, that you don't know what's coming up around the corner, that it's selfish, blah blah blah. But what if that thought is just due to my sense of common morals, just the same as everyone else? Everyone says suicide is wrong, but what is actually wrong ( Read more... )

A moral reason for commiting suicide is when someone is completely alone. And I don't just mean a person who says it melodramatically. Some children grow up in abusive homes where they're not loved at all. I can't really tell you who, because she'd ring my neck if I revealed her identity, but when she was younger, she tried to commit suicide. Why? Because her mother was never ever loving to her. When she was only twelve, her mother left her to go to Paris, and she was all alone to take care of herself and her younger sister. Twelve! Her mother never told her she loved her, never said she was pretty, and everything was always her fault. The only love she ever got was from her father, who her mother divorced. Though she wanted so very much to live with her father, her mother dictated letters to write to her father, saying she was extremely happy to stay where she was. Coming from France, she didn't understand english that well, and because of that she wasn't able to make lasting friendships. I don't believe that trying to commit suicide was the best thing to do, but I don't know how I'd be able to cope given a situation like that.
