“Sophie Rose! Here. Now.” Kirsten stared at the hook end of several candy canes, still on the tree.
“I thought we talked about this? You can’t break them off and just leave them like this.”
“But, Mommy…”
“No buts, young lady. It spoils your dinner.”
“But…”
“If I have to tell you again, there will be no TV tonight.”
Sophie pouted sadly.
“Nice going, Seth.”
Seth jumped, startled to be caught eavesdropping by his brother.
“You’d let a little girl take the blame for your deeds. Nice.” Ryan gestured at the stick ends of the striped candies in Seth’s hand.
