Being a mother was something special to her now. She could remember her own, singing in the small kitchen. Making cookies and giving hugs. Things she didn't know how to do... or at least not well. She could remember learning to bake at her mother's side, but not how to make the treats now. It wasn't like they had the ingredients any longer though.
She could remember her mother's soft touch, a touch she wanted to give to her own son.
It wasn't very often she allowed herself to think back on the woman who raised her. She knew she wasn't what her mother wanted, but she hoped she would approve of what she'd become. A mother herself now, and doing what she could to raise her son herself. Unlike many who lived in this post-Death world, she wanted to be a mother to her son. Even if at first she didn't.
It was hard to remember her mother now, since the years had passed and memory faded. But on Mother's Day... she always tried to remember.
