The coming weeks...

The coming weeks are shaping up nicely. It'll nice to have some me time away from Pittsburgh and my immediate family. Seems like the only time I've left the city, it's been to go home for some emergency or another.

Itinerary:

This Wednesday--shopping in the Strip District for lasagna fixings and some assorted breads and cheeses for the family reunion followed by a drive home with said goodies.

Friday--Eyeball doctor, neon green mucous, haircut (hopefully so that it doesn't end up looking more extremely mullet-ish)

Saturday--Dago Family Reunion!!!! How fucking exciting is that? Vinnie and Mo are coming down from NY State (hopefully with cannoli), Polly'll probably be there, and Andrea and Mary Kay (my first cousin once removed). Jen'll be up from North Carolina and it'll just be all kinds of goodness in one place. I heart my family.

Sunday to Tuesday--chillin' like a villain at home. Hopefully family will still be around. Since I have to be back in Pittsburgh for the 18th, I'm hoping we do nana's birthday party at the reunion.

Wednesday/Thursday?--One of those days is Marissa's going away party as well as Laura since she's leaving us for the West Coast! Hot to death. Wish I could go with her.

Friday--Heading for Philly to visit friends and family. Can't wait to see my cousin/niece (she's three now) and poor Bear, who's failing fast. It may well be the last time I see the girl. God I love my Uncle's dog. She's been around as long as I can remember and has the softest fur and is just so sweetly dispositioned. But let's not think on that.

Somewhere during that weekend is Brandi and Gig's birthday party at Brandi's place, so there'll be a shit load of brothers and stuff in Philly to chill with with the beautiful option of disappearing like a ghost back to my Aunt and Uncle's place.

Monday and Tuesday--possibly taking the train into NYC both days for adventure and merry-making in the gayer places. I've always wanted to see the Village and SoHo and Chelsea, and get into some of the art galleries to see works of art that I'm sure will make me question the painter and the gallery owner's sanity.

Wednesday--The long drive to North Carolina to see Jen and lounge by the pool while she teaches five year old kiddies all those things that they'll need. Let's just hope that Jen is a damn sight better at her job than the majority of teachers in the south. Though, she's a Yankee, so she damn well should be! WOOOO -- Go Union!!

Then back to Pittsburgh just in time for classes and all the rest of that insanity to start.

I'm hoping while I'm on this sojourn I can get my head clear and straight, that I can get a descent amount of reading and writing done, and prepare myself for Buddy Nordan's harsh critiques of my work without deflating like a balloon.

::sigh::

Life. It's up, it's down, it's sideways, and it's always a struggle to remain in the moment. But I don't regret any of it. Thankfully. Even the pain.

Time to take care of some business.
