Frou Frou ... not just knick-knacks and lace anymore

Yesterday was amazing. It's been a weird ride these last few weeks, what with school ending, an amazing retreat to the woods of Seven Springs, the hunt for a job, the trip home for Mother's Day Weekend and the Dave Bromburg concert with dad, returning to job hunt, chillin' at the house, drinkin' with the bros, playin' cards, spending time with the Vassalotti and the Blow, drivin' with the top down., cruisin' the mall ... LIVING. And it's all been a "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" because the book that underscores the poignancy of this time is Chabon's "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh." I feel like I'm living that book, or at least trying to live a reasonable facsimlie (provided I could spell). However, I also just finished Andrew Sean Greer's collection of short stories, "How It Was For Me." It was incredible. "Four Bites," "Come Live With Me and Be My Love," and "Blame It On My Youth" were three of the best stories in the collection--though I'm sure only for selfish, personal reasons do I say that. I want to run out and buy all his stuff. He's great. You should go out and buy it too. He graduated from U. of Montana at Missoula with an MFA. That's where I'm looking at going. I work with a guy who did his undergrad there and his grad here and he's amazing, too. I want to be amazing some day. But for now, I'll enjoy the sunshine and the weather, and the time I spend with my friends. Let it here by be resolved on this day, the 13th of May, this year of our lord two thousand aught four that I shall live in the moment and try to keep my brain from playing the prognosticative guessing game.

Frou Frou - "Let Go"

drink up, baby down
mmm, are you in or are you out
leave your things behind
'cause it's all going off without you
excuse me, too busy you're writing your tragedy
these mishaps
you bubble wrap
when you've no idea what you're like
so let go, jump in
oh well, whatcha waiting for
it's alright
'cause there's beauty in the breakdown
so let go, just get in
oh, it's so amazing here
it's alright
'cause there's beauty in the breakdown
it gains the more it gives
and then it rises with the fall
so hand me that remote
can't you see that all that stuff's a sideshow
such boundless pleasure
we've no time for later now
you can't await your own arrival
you've 20 seconds to comply
so let go, jump in
oh well, whatcha waiting for
it's alright
'cause there's beauty in the breakdown
so let go, just get in
oh, it's so amazing here
it's alright
'cause there's beauty in the breakdown

This band sounds like the Chemical Brothers, Beth Orton, and the Cranberries had a massive orgy and the offspring of that mating produced Frou Frou. It's genious. Speaking of Cranberries, they were the perfect musical accompaniment to a fine ending of a fine day. After returning from out past the airport (new and old) (once I managed to figure out that I needed to go south instead of north--which I might add, feels counter-intuative considering how you leave the city to get there) I went down to the house, and The BV, Bummy and I went to Hemingways with only fifteen minutes left to get food. I gorged myself on pita chips--oh god, mmmm ... pita chips. The Cranberries came on and with a devilishly happy glint in my eyes, BV and I sang along as we smoked cigs, basking in our Buddha Belly Afterglow. My face hurts today from smiling so much and so frequently.
