We had orchestra tonight. Randomly, halfway through the Haydn, the inside of my left elbow started to itch. Like, really itch. So I scratched it some, and then I finally put down my violin and pulled up my sleeve, and there was a red area 3 inches across. I went to the bathroom and soaked a couple of paper towels in cold water and held them on my arm and went back in and listened without playing for a few minutes.
We got our parts for the November concert (the Schubert and Haydn are for February):
Overture to Un ballo in maschera by Verdi
Flute Concerto in D Major by Mozart
Adagio from Symphony #5 by Mahler
Mother Goose Suite by Ravel
Yay! Only one movement by Mahler, and I really like all the rest. And I think we still might be doing Debussy in May, but Eric is leaving. May will be his last concert.
I applied for jobs today. I got a few places that were "taking applications"" i.e. not hiring now. But Chili's said they'll see if I fit in the schedule- I know I'm not a first choice because I've never worked in a restaurant before, but hopefully I'll get a hostessing job or something. I also applied to Blockbuster because I know they are hiring next week. They asked about my managing experience (which I have!), but then told me starting positions pay about $5.60/hr. She said you get 5 free movies, but didn't specify what time period. I don't watch that many movies, though if they have OZ I'll rent that. Too bad they don't have Homicide. But at least I know I've got a good chance of getting something, and I can keep applying elsewhere until I get hired.
