Hope you folks are all enjoying a happy holiday season, whatever you celebrate, or a happy end of 2010 if you've no holiday to celebrate. Me, I have to again thank nakeisha , allaire , and gemspegasus for the lovely birthday greetings, and pe1804 for the adorable virtual puppy gift. You guys all made my day brighter.
As did a fic! The Great Escape is one of my favorite movies, and, even as a kid, even before I knew something such as Slash fic existed, I saw the connection and possibilities between Danny and Willie. I mean, what's not to love in John Leyton's sweet, pretty Willie and Charles Bronson's broody sexiness, and their close, close friendship. There's even onscreen Hurt/Comfort! Sadly, it does not seem to be a pairing that fandom has embraced, as fic for it is exceptionally thin on the ground. But, hark!
The Other Side (Currently by Anonymous because it's part of the Yuletide ficathon, I believe.) seamlessly follows through on the movie, in Danny and Willie's uneasy escape into an uneasy freedom, with a gorgeous flow, excellent character voices, and that unresolved tension evoked in every word.
And, though I'm not one of them myself, wouldn't Charles Bronson/David McCallum (Eric Ashley-Pitt) be an interesting RP pairing for the folks who read/write that, considering their history?
Write more Danny/Willie, fanfic writers, please?
