Hey, folks, for those wishing to remove those pesky Twitter/Facebook checkboxes from your entries and comments, nakeisha has passed along a quick and easy fix.

1. Go to your "Journal" menu, and select "Journal Style".
2. To the right, you'll see what theme you're using, with a link stating "Customize Your Theme". Click that link.
3. Scroll down a little ways, and you'll see that on the left side of your screen, you have multiple options to modify your theme. Click on the "Custom CSS" link, and it should load the options for doing Custom CSS.
4. From here, all you have to do is go to the "Custom Stylesheet", and put in the following line.

.b-repost-item {display:none}

5. Once you have it pasted in there, save changes.
6. Feel free to share this with your flist.

Y'know, let's face it, privacy is an ephemeral thing out here, even in Friends-locked posts, as long as copy and paste is available.  And I don't think anyone is saying Livejournal should not offer this feature at all.  Some folks might find it quite helpful for their own journals.  It's the whole no choice thing, and the lack of control over your own journal.  Sure, you can choose not to crosspost your own entries and comments, but what about folks commenting in your journal and choosing to crosspost comments to Facebook and/or Twitter which might quote you and/or others' comments?  Please, LJ, give us at least total opt-in/opt-out of this feature so we can make a stab at protecting the privacy of our journal entries and the comments therein.  After all, there's always copy and paste for those who must crosspost.

Unless and until LJ gives and gives us that opt-out feature, it's either this quick fix or locking down your journal and disabling comments, and that kinda takes the "social" out of social networking, now, doesn't it, LJ?

Alternatively, if this is the straw that broke the back of LJ for you, there's always DW.  I've still got codes if anyone needs 'em and wants 'em.
