Harper's Island is eating my brain. Is anyone else still watching it? Anyone anyone? Am I the only one?
::crickets...they chirp::
I'm disappointed it hasn't been doing better in the ratings. I find I'm really liking this kind of limited run series, and would've liked even more to see what they'd have learned from it and done better in another murder spree in another hapless locale in a second run. Ah, well... They haven't been playing fair, of course. At least half the fun of mysteries, for me, is trying to solve them along with the characters, but this one... There's absolutely no throughline of clues and plot holes galore, but the reckless abandon of murders on such a large scale is fun to watch as long as you don't take a bit of it seriously. I still have my suspects and theories. Of course. And this past week's ep, I think proved
that there absolutely has to be a second killer, at least. The sheer enormity of the numbers of deaths, the time involved in setting some of them up and covering them up would mean one person would have to be working on it 24/7. Plus, I don't think any of the folks left are without an alibi for at least some of the murders. Plus! What one person could have a motive for killing all these people? And! I seriously doubt they'd have revealed Wakefield, (who is almost certainly the sheriff's and the cops' killer) with three more eps to go yet, if he were the only killer.
Of the folks still alive
- Henry, Cal, and Jimmy - are all still alive. I've always liked Cal, though, so have always wanted to be proved wrong there, and I've come to like Henry, so yeah. I'd like to be wrong there, too.
I'd love it
was Trish, because I don't like her, never have, and she really lost me when she told her father that his wife was cheating on him. That? Was unnecessarily cruel and spiteful.
In the end
Cal, Henry, Abby (Am I the only one who finds it suspicious that there's never been a hint of romance between these two good friends? That's so very un-Hollywood-like. Maybe there's a reason for that, hmmm... Like maybe... shared parentage...), and Gigi. Please! Somebody rescue that dog!
Yes, it's a shame there'll be no second season. With a little fastforwarding
could be Madison. She's well on the way.
In other television news... Well, there's not much, is there? I have been watching the UK version of The Apprentice on BBCA. I'm informed by the LA Times that it's the "better" Apprentice, but, then, they also say She's Got the Look is "must-see" TV, so that says something about their opinion. I do like the UK version, but, nope, not better than, say, Season 1 of Trump's Apprentice. If anyone else is watching? Watch it On Demand, if you can, 'cause they have the director's cut of the eps, and thus, extra content. Wouldn't want to miss any moment of Saira weeping, now would you? It does amuse me that BBCA randomly subtitles Sir Alan Sugar's dialogue and nobody else's. Granted, his grammar isn't always what it could be, but seriously? The man's speech is perfectly understandable. Now if they subtitled some of those garbled, interference-ridden voices coming over the cell phones... That? Would be helpful.
In RL news, both my mom and my sister have surgeries upcoming in the next few weeks. Nothing serious for either - Knock on wood. - but any good thoughts you can spare their way to make sure all goes according to plan would be much appreciated.
Dreamwidth? Anyone? Anyone? Still needing an invite code? I suspect you've all got 'em already, who've wanted a DW account, but I thought I'd ask here one more time before casting my net further afield. I've got several codes if you or anyone you know wants one. Just send 'em on over.
