Con was fun!
Brief, but fun.
Joe really wanted his squeeze Adam to come to the con, so we didn’t end up getting there until around 5. We spent some time cosplay watching in the Dealer Room and I couldn’t help but get some Con Swag™. Of course, the primary reason we went to the con was to meet the Marble Hornets guys who were amazing.
Of course, on the first evening I was a total spazz and just stood at their table and kind of said “Hi…!” and then stood there Like a statue. The best metaphor I can think of is how the nerdy girls in Princess Jellyfish turn into stone when encountering the ‘Stylish’. It was mortifying.
However, the second day I was much more comfortable (and brought my Season One DVD which gave me something to do aside from just standing there awkwardly) and had them sign the DVD. I got sigs from the whole main crew- Joseph, Troy, Brian and Tim. (They’re all amazing, and Tim is adorable) I actually managed a conversation with them too about how they handled cons and all that. They mentioned a con they had gone to a few weeks prior had been less than thrilling as the con organizers, apparently some college kids, were much more interested in going to con than running it. They were having a more enjoyable at ABCon, which was cool. They were all really nice, and It felt more like how I do when I’m at work as opposed to staring at some cute guys who I think are awesome.
It’s weird though, isn’t it? I don’t know them. I’ve watched Marble Hornets and some of their other pages, and I went to their panel about MH and it was awesome and they were funny, and because of that I just wanted to be their bro, you know? It’s so weird how that works out.
But seriously, Marble Hornets crew. If ya’ll are reading this message you should hit me up and practice dating a dude hang. It’ll be epic.
Other con highlights:
-Some really cool cosplay, only a few of which I got pictures of. Kimono wearing Cruella Deville was probably my favorite.
-Met with Marjory and her beau, Senor Tool Quint, and he ‘directed us’ to Kooky Kanuck (and somewhat racist sounding restaurant downtown, not too far from the Cook Convention center) and ended up taking us around for like sixteen blocks. We wasted over two hours getting there, eating, and getting back. Yikes.
-Played a group Cards Against Humanity game. My team was super spastic, but included David AKA Green Lantern, a recurring regular when I worked at Power Play. It was the first time I’d seen him since the old PP days, so that was neat.
-Ran into Jess, one of my old PP managers, as well! She looked gorgeous and seemed to be having a lot of fun with her (rapidly approaching a happy level of intoxication) Lestat-cosplaying fiancé. (Seriously, though, he looked pretty awesome)
It was fun, and next time maybe I’ll actually cosplay.
Maybe.
